What Are You Reading?

March 6, 2014 By Janet Williams 4 Comments

A few weeks ago, I asked you what books you are reading.

A few of you are reading more than one book. It shows that some of us might not be brilliant at multi-tasking (such as tying shoelaces and talking at the same time), but we do somehow manage to read books of different genres at the same time.

Here is a list of books that we are reading: from my family, Mike, Hazel, the Winter family and the Barker family.

Ben loves science fiction. He wrote in his blog recently Why does science fiction work so well? It was well written and he argued his points clearly. Please check out his post.

Today is World Book Day. Happy Reading, everyone!

Hi Janet – I always have a hard time selecting a book because I don’t read fiction.
However I picked up an excellent book at the airport that I find an incredible read. It’s called “A Long Way Gone: memoirs of a boy soldier by Ishmael Beah. Not for the faint-hearted though!
“At the age of twelve, Ishmael fled attacking rebels in Sierra Leone and wandered a land unrecognised by violence. By thirteen he’s been picked up by the government army, and Beah, at heart a gentle boy found that he was capable of truly terrific acts. At sixteen, he was removed from fighting by UNICEF, and through the help of the staff at his rehabilitation center, he learned ho to forgive himself, to regain his humanity, and finally to heal. This is an extraordinary and mesmerising account told with real literary force and heartbreaking honesty.” Cheers Roger
