Welcoming Year of Monkey: 8 February 2016

Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year 2016.

It’s the Year of the Monkey, my Zodiac Year of Birth, which is known as 本命年 (Běn mìng nián).

Traditionally a lot of Chinese believe that your zodiac year (12 years as a cycle) will bring danger and misfortune, so you need to wear something red.

I bought Traidcraft Eastern Flower Gift Wrap (£5) last week and I’m totally mesmerised by the texture, colours and beauty of the paper.

International Day of Happiness

This morning, I learnt from Leyla Torres from Origami Spirit that today, March 20th, is the first International Day of Happiness, initiated by the United Nations.

My initial emotion to the International Day of Happiness was bafflement. I pondered briefly, why do we need a specific day for happiness?
