Remembrance and Thanksgiving
As well as the morning Service of Remembrance on Sunday the 13th of November 2016 at 10.30, on Sunday the 6th of November 2016, there will be a short Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at 4pm in the Methodist Church for all who have been bereaved – during the past year or in previous years.
All are welcome to share in this peaceful, gentle service, which will include the opportunity to light a candle in memory of someone.
Address: Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church: Winchester Road SO53 2GJ
Recently I had the privilege of attending a thanksgiving service at the Methodist Church. It was a beautiful service. To family and friends, Rev. Peter Cornick’s comforting words and message gave them strength and hope, even though pain would not go away.
Thanksgiving gives family and friends a chance to celebrate life. As silent tears rolled down our cheeks, in sadness, we remembered happy memories and a kind soul.
We thank God as our lives have all been enriched by joy, humour, and happiness that we shared with someone special, and that remarkable person had so generously shared his gift, kindness, and laughter with the world.
Thanksgiving at the church carries the most powerful healing power with music, prayers, and words of wisdom. In this thanksgiving service, we remembered a remarkable, humble human being, who was both unique and precious to God and to his family and friends.
Thanksgiving connects us all. Our lives are all intertwined in the most remarkable way, through real life and in the virtual world. It’s a privilege to get to connect with someone so special, to be enriched. It’s a privilege to be invited into someone’s world. Though life is fragile and mysterious, life is beautiful as our hearts have been touched by the most beautiful soul.
