We have some great news for fans of The Chameleon Theatre company and lovers of a Midsummer Night’s Dream might.
The Chameleons will be performing a couple of funny 10 minute sketches at Peter Green on School Lane, on Saturday afternoon 1st of July from 2pm to 3pm.
Peter Green will be hosting a fun afternoon to celebrate its 61st Annual Summer Sale, and the Chameleons have been invited to perform one of its popular plays, The Pocket Dream.
Last May I watched the performance with my family, and Allison Symes, who later wrote a beautiful review here in this post: Review: The Pocket Dream by Chameleon Theatre Company.
Lovely lunch at Peter Green
Coincidentally a few days ago I had lunch at Peter Green with my son on one of the hottest days. We decided to ‘celebrate’ locally where we could easily walk to, as my son has just finished his GCSE exams.
I had a coronation chicken jacket potato, and my son had some sandwiches. The food was nicely presented and it was delicious. The service was very good and it was lovely to be surrounded by unique wall deco as well.
On our way out, I spotted some displays on the wall about the history of Peter Green. It was a huge surprise to see the words ‘Chandler’s Ford Today‘ on the wall as well. To my amazement, our previous article about Peter Green Coffee Shop had been enlarged and displayed to a wider audience.
Last year one of our writers chippy minton told me he had seen a Peter Green display at Eastleigh Museum and he told me there was some ‘very lovely things about Chandler’s Ford Today’ in the display. I went to the Museum but didn’t get to see the display because there was a long queue to Santa’s Grotto.
Now having seen the display, I felt quite proud. (To honour that special moment, now you get to see a rare photograph of me.)
I noticed that the Coffee Shop has changed since we last visited. Mike Devey, Head of Buying and Retail, told me that the Coffee Shop had a change a couple of months ago, as Peter Green has taken the Coffee Shop back ‘in-house’ rather than putting another concessionaire in place.
Mike said there are new table tops, and they also have more new décor planned. There’s already more extensive seasonal choices, now using only fresh locally sourced produce, so the quality of the dishes is a great improvement.
Peter Green now also caters for small regional events too. Several groups now use the shop as their regular meeting spot, including recently the EBN Business Network, and several regional charities, in addition to Peter Green’s own quarterly Networking events.
I look forward to seeing The Pocket Dream by the Chameleons again on the 1st of July. It’s a free event.
