There will be Lion Dance performance in Southampton this coming Sunday after all.
I have just received an email from Waterside Lion Dance confirming the Lion Dance performances outside West Quay this Sunday.
In the email, it said:
“Janet, we will be performing the Dim Jing outside West Quay this coming Sunday morning at half past eleven. We would be grateful to you for advertising the event for us.”
Note from Janet: Dim Jing is Cantonese, meaning ‘Eye Dotting ceremony’. Read cultural reference here Success Lion Dance website – Eye Dotting Ceremony
I asked founder of Waterside Lion Dance Ricky Tang who sponsored the Lion Dance performance in Southampton, since Lion Dance is not sponsored by the Council. On 30th Jan, I received an email from Ricky:
Waterside Lion Dance was established in 2001. It is recognised as the south’s leading lion dance group. In Southampton, I enjoyed the group’s brilliant performances during the Chinese New Year in the past.
As I am writing this post, the company’s website has not published the event details yet. I will update this post when I have more information.
