London to Amsterdam Bike Ride For LimbPower

July 22, 2014 By Vasilij Nevlev Leave a Comment

I am Russian and I moved to the UK about 9 years ago. My wife and I have a little girl and we live in Chandler’s Ford.

I am working as a data analyst for Aviva health and my specialty is building mathematical models to detect fraud in Health Insurance.

From 26th to 29th September this year, I’ll be taking part in the London to Amsterdam Bike Ride 2014 to fundraise for the charity LimbPower.

LimbPower are supporting amputees by getting them into sports because sports encourage rehabilitation in the long-term.

While I do not have a disability, I understand the value and importance of physical and mental rehabilitation. Fundraising for LimbPower – Life After Limb Loss by cycling from London to Amsterdam means that I can do two things at once:

  • Raise money before the event to get more amputees to participate in sport.
  • Help amputees to reach their goal as an able-bodied cyclist who will be able to provide support and assistance to the others.

A colleague of mine has almost been made an amputee after a horrible motorbike accident. He took part in another event where amputees cycled from London to Paris.

Cycling from London to Amsterdam is not that easy even for an able-bodied person. Funny enough in the previous cycling event they were short on able-bodied people, not on amputees!

I have been cycling for a while, so I thought that my skills and abilities will be well suited.

Every single pound raised will go towards getting people into sports, participate in a community of like-minded people and to be the role model for others in difficulty.
