SHARE YOUR STORY WRITING SUMMIT

Introduction
I was thrilled to be invited to take part in my first writing summit, Share Your Story Writing Summit, which runs from 18th to 23rd March.
This is a big step for me and I was told about it by Wendy H Jones.
I am proof that networking with other authors not only helps you develop friends who understand the ups and downs of the writing life but who can also share useful links with you. I am always deeply touched by those who have told me they find my posts here useful. It is two-way traffic here and that is one of the things I love most about the writing community.
Anyway, initial excitement over, there was work to do. My topic was obvious – flash fiction – but it was how to present it I needed to give some thought over. That done, it was then a question of recording it with Larissa Russell, the Canadian writer behind the summit, via Zoom.

Limited Free Access – 23 Presenters, 23 Workshops
The summit is free for a limited period. If you look at the presentations on the scheduled day or for 24 hours afterwards, you pay nothing.
If you decide you would like to look at these later, or want to keep the presentations, you do need to go for one of the paid options. Again full details below.

What I am hoping for here is considerably more exposure for flash fiction as a form and, yes, for my books.
Main Points
Summit is from 18th to 23rd March 2021.
Summit is called the Share Your Story Writing Summit and features a wide range of authors and topics.
My topic is Flash Fiction – Why I Love It and Why I Think Every Writer Should Try It.
There is limited free access with 3 to 4 presenters on any one day of the summit. Each of the days (and therefore topics on that day) is available for 24 hours only.
BUT:-
Pre-sale Early Bird Pricing – If you would like access to everything (and why not!), then between the dates of 4th to 17th March, you would pay $47 USD.
There are 23 presenters and 23 workshops. That is a lot of info for not much money! Bargain…
During the summit itself – March 18th to 23rd 2021 – you can get access to everything for $67 USD.
AFTER the summit itself – March 24th 2021 onwards – You would pay $97 USD
And there is an affiliate link so I will earn a small amount of money if you go for any of the paid versions. You also get to keep the talks and there is a wealth of experience and advice here, all of which will be useful.

Being an Attendee
I plan to be an attendee as well as a presenter as there are a wealth of topics on offer here and am so looking forward to hearing at least some of the other topics myself. This event is easily the biggest writing event I’ve been involved in directly and naturally I hope it leads to other things.
Some of the topics covered include The Business of Writing (Wendy H Jones), Writing Historical Fiction – The How, What, When and Why (Joy Margetts), Writing with Coffee and Chaos (Maressa Mortimer – all kudos to her for a fantastic title!), Freelance Writing (Ruth Leigh), and Writing Comedy (Fran Hill).
Now I must declare another interest here. These good ladies are all members of the Association of Christian Writers. I’m the Membership Secretary and I enrolled three of them!
But if you have any interest at all in creative writing, do check this summit out. You will find plenty of interest.
Things To Come From The Summit Now
I needed to have a giveaway to bring people to my website. Tick in the box done.
Set up an email list so people can sign up to receive the giveaway and send out a regular (monthly) email newsletter. Tick in the box done (and ongoing. Has given my marketing a useful boost too and hopefully that will be ongoing as well!).
Set up a PayPal account so I can, hopefully, receive any monies earned via affiliate fees. Tick in the box done.
All of these things will be useful for other aspects of my writing work as well (and means I am set up for any future summits I take part in). The last month or so has been far busier than normal, a bit of a learning curve, but fun and that’s all good!
