It’s rather unusual that you walk into a post office to buy curry ingredients.
But in Chandler’s Ford you can just do that.
The post office on Ashdown Road in Hiltingbury sells stamps, envelops, cards, soaps and scarves.
It also sells GoldDust Masala Blend.
At the counter as I bought some stamps from the postmistress Nisha, I saw a few jars of GoldDust.
Nisha told me her husband Raj is an experienced chef, and he developed GoldDust, secret ingredients suitable for all dishes!
Raj told me he was once invited by Sarah Guilder from Bay Leave Larder to run a curry tasting session.
Sarah Guilder said, “I came across Raj and his wife Nisha in our local post office – they are always so friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble for them to help their customers.
I had heard of his famous GoldDust and had been asked by a customer of mine to make a curry, so I thought I would give it a try.
My customer phoned me a few days later to say Thank You and that the curry had been a great hit, so I in turn thanked Raj. We got talking and he said he was a chef so I invited him to give Hiltingbury residents a taste at Bay Leaves Larder.”
Sarah said her customers loved it, so she and Raj are going to join forces again and put a curry evening on, and people can bring their own drink. She believed this will be a great joint venture.
