Fairtrade Autumn Market Friday 14th October 2016 St. Martin in the Wood Church

October 1, 2016 By Tricia Urquhart Leave a Comment

The children are back at school and we are into the autumn.

What better way of celebrating the new season than by coming to the Fairtrade Autumn Market on Friday 14th October at St Martin’s from 7 to 9 pm (Chandler’s Ford SO53 5AG).

Come and enjoy a complimentary glass of Fairtrade wine and other refreshments with your friends as you browse the amazing variety of beautiful gifts.

In addition to the usual Fairtrade items we will also have Nomad clothes and accessories.

Start your Christmas shopping

Christmas is still several months away but this is an opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early and we will have Christmas cards, gifts, decorations and food on sale and to order.

Not only will you find unusual and beautifully made gifts but without the hassle of going to the shops or the expense or risk of buying online. All goods ordered on the evening can be delivered to your home within a week.

Supporting Traidcraft changes lives

Supporting Traidcraft really does change lives.

Buying Christmas cards enables Traidcraft Exchange to work with some of the poorest and most marginalised people, and help them to develop goods that can be sold with the fair-trade mark. Hence, they could trade their way out of poverty with dignity and hope for the future.

Traidcraft is again asking people to Show You Care this autumn by continuing your support to Traidcraft so that this vital development work can continue.

My links with Nepal

As many of you know I have links with Nepal and you may have heard me speak about an inspirational fair-trade company called Get Paper Industry (GPI).

During the evening I will be showing a brief film about the work GPI is doing to prevent girls from being trafficked, which is a major problem in Nepal.

We will also have a short clip about Noah’s Ark, an Indian company that makes many crafts for Traidcraft including the wooden children’s toys.

Look in the magazine next month to read more about Nepal.

“My wife was expecting our child when she fell seriously ill. My employer paid the medical bills – if he hadn’t I would have lost them both.”

Susheel Singh works for Noah’s Ark, India.

You can read much more about the producers at Traidcraft and discover how life changing it is to buy fairtrade goods.
