Don’t Forget: Winter Open Studios This Weekend at the Sorting Office Eastleigh

November 21, 2015 By Janet Williams Leave a Comment

The Sorting Office in Eastleigh will open for its annual Winter Open Studios this weekend (21st and 22nd November 2015).

Now in its third year, the Winter Open Studios will run over two days, opening on Saturday November 21 from 11am to 5pm, and on Sunday November 22 from 11am to 4pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity to see behind the scenes of the thriving designer-maker studios at the old Sorting Office in Eastleigh (The Sorting Office, 37 Wells Road Eastleigh SO50 5FY).

You’ll meet the artists, watch them at work, take part in demonstrations, and buy their exquisite handcrafted goods and designs.

There will be a drop-in screen-printing workshop, and craft demonstrations running across the two days.

Meeting some artists at the Sorting Office

In June this year, I visited the summer Open Studios and met some artists. The energy of creativity I felt there was wonderful.

Here are a few pictures to show you some of the artists I met.

Karen Head, a textile artist specialised in using hand-dyed felt and threads to create painterly nuno artwork and nuno scarves.

The Sorting Office’s designer-makers: transforming foyer of The Point theatre

Recently, four designer-makers from The Sorting Office have been chosen by a top London interior design company to help transform the foyer of The Point theatre in Eastleigh.

Ceramic artist Sheena Bond, print designer Mariska Parent, textile artist Claire Vine, and visual artist Eve Dawson will be working alongside renowned London-based interior designer Naomi Doran of Relic Interiors, to create designs for The Point’s foyer and bar area, transforming it into a more welcoming and comfortable space.
