Have you heard of the Curious Café in Chandler’s Ford?
It’s open most Friday evenings at the Dovetail Centre, at Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church, on Winchester Road.
The Curious Café offers an informal atmosphere where you can relax, have a chat, and maybe engage in something curious.
The Curious Café has opened since last summer, and it’s slowly getting known locally. It’s a place for people to get together. It’s friendly, welcoming, fun, and a good place to meet new friends. Fresh bean coffee and other refreshments are available at not-for-profit prices!
Some weeks there are themes but some weeks it’s just ‘coffee and chat’. So far, there has been film night, book night, ukulele time, art, music…. and last Friday, it was a discussion about vegan food, with vegan food tasting.
The good thing about the Curious Café is that it’s informal. It’s open to everyone. You can come and go. You can pop in for a drink, and you can stay longer for a chat – face to face chatting, which is getting rarer these days in the digital age.
Vegan Food
Last Friday Hugh and I went to the Curious Café for the first time. I didn’t know what to expect first but felt it was quite enjoyable. About 20 local people turned up. A small group of us chatted about the ethics of veganism, conventional farming, and also shared recipe ideas.
Sara prepared some vegan food and shared with everyone. These included mushroom pasta, fajita mix with tofu, shepherd pies with sweet potatoes and lentils. We also tasted oat and soya milk. Afterwards, there were vegan cakes. I asked Jeff what he thought about the cake, and he said, ‘rather interesting’!
Ukulele Time at the Curious Cafe
In the previous week, it was the Ukulele Time. From the photo you could see lots of people enjoying the mini concert and also having a go and playing ukulele.
Next Friday, it’ll be Coffee and Chat.
