Comedy Review: Ladies Of Iniquity By MDG Players

December 1, 2014 By Janet Williams 10 Comments

Chandler’s Ford MDG Players put on a brilliant comedy, Ladies of Iniquity, last week.

The scene was set in the 70s, when power cut and strike were common, when telephone sitting in a dominant place in the lounge was still attached to a wire, and when neighbours could pop in through the backdoor unannounced.

It was a hilarious comedy.

Hiltingbury resident Tom Whyte sent me his review of the comedy:

“I went to watch Ladies of Iniquity with my wife, Sheila, and good friend Chris. Even though it was opening night, I was surprised at how good the acting was and the fact that very few lines were fluffed. ”

“All the cast were excellent, particularly Sarah Sullivan as Susan Foster and Lester Parry as Albie the Fence. ”

“It was a delightfully funny play with some lovely lines. I particulary liked the reference to the H2 mob, the Hiltingbury Hooligans.”

“Doris and her cronies were a hoot, not many lines but wonderful acting and expressions. ”

“I look forward to the next production. ”

The play was directed by Mike Standing. The cast also included Alison Baseley (Audrey Clarke), Brian Newman (Inspector McQuade), and Diana Harrison (Sergeant German).

This production was dedicated to the memory of Marylyn Webster.
