Chandler’s Ford Fryern Funtasia 2016

May 2, 2016 By Janet Williams 5 Comments

Music. Food. Ponies. Dogs. Games. Stalls. Friends. Queen.

Fryern Funtasia this afternoon on the Fryern Recreation Ground was enjoyable.

It’s the 5th Fryern Funtasia event in Chandler’s Ford. The Fryern Funtasia is a community event organised by local volunteers and businesses, with the help of the Chandler’s Ford Parish Council.

Photographer Daniel Newcombe kindly shares with us some brilliant photos of the day.

Did you know we have a May Queen and May Princess? (Some traditions do last.)

Look at these amazing children! This photograph below shows children of Chandler’s Ford participating in the “Falcon High” bird of prey show (guest appearance: an owl)!

Children has many fun games to fully enjoy themselves the whole afternoon. Could you race against the clock like the kids?

Steam train rides provided by Winchester Model and Engineering Society always delight children and adults. Nostalgia is here to say!

Four of us who write for Chandler’s Ford Today were there. Chippy Minton, Mike Sedgwick and I met up there first, while Allison Symes went there much later (I think she had spent too much time doing housework since the morning).

It means that apart from this post, these writers may also write about their day later. Hopefully amongst us we could form a bigger picture of this lovely day. I didn’t manage to go round all stalls or activities, and I know I must have missed lovely performances by Centrestage Production Youth Theatre.

I may have been late but I had a wonderful time meeting up with old friends (Andrew Kuttner at Bettermaths, the good people from Thornden Hall, and the mother and son team at the Marucci icecream van – now there’s a mix!). Will write up a post later but it was great to see such a wide variety of events and people at the Funtasia plus a very worthy charity in the shape of St. Anne’s Hospital, Tanzania. It’s not a bad thing that a local show celebrates the best of what we are locally AND looks further afield.

I think you should thank Jonathan Rees for sponsoring the event again.

      Indeed.

Jan, I’ve edited the post, and at the end of the post, I’ve now added all sponsors for the event, based on the information in the brochure.

These people and organisations have dedicated themselves to the success of this fab event for the community. I think those who attended are grateful for their effort.
