Chameleon Theatre Company Supports Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours

(This article was written by Sheila Hardiman.)

Chameleon Theatre likes to support a local charity through its raffles at each performance.

Our members nominate a local charity dear to their heart at our AGM. Over the years we have supported Wessex Cancer, Southampton General Hospital special appeals, the local Alzheimers Society and Lexie’s Voice amongst others.

The exception is 2014, when we also supported Great Ormond Street Hospital as we performed Peter Pan as our panto that year.

Our audiences are always very generous in supporting the raffle in the interval, so many thanks to them also for supporting so many good causes over the years.

Last year I nominated Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours, since I volunteer for them. Recently, there has been an increasing need for befriending services, for which we don’t take a client donation but do pay our volunteer’s expenses.

I was very pleased to be able to present Barbara Lowe, our Chairman and Jim Singer, Treasurer, with a cheque for £660 from Chameleons at the Good Neighbours Annual General Meeting last week.

Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours (CFGN) helps people in the SO53 area to get to medical appointments or to shops for vital supplies. I joined them as a volunteer shortly after I retired and really enjoy meeting new people, who have interesting stories to tell.

If you have any time to spare, even a couple of hours a month, Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours would love to hear from you, as we have more requests for assistance than we can always fulfil.

Our website is Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours and you can find more information and contact details there.
