Beacon Café at St. Boniface Church – You are Invited

May 19, 2015 By Janet Williams 1 Comment

A new and welcoming cafe has now opened on Hursley Road – great news for the community.

Beacon Café is a new cafe at St. Boniface Church.

Beacon Café runs on the first and the third Tuesday of every month, from 10am to 12pm.

Today (19th May) is the third coffee morning since it started just 6 weeks ago.

Judith Bird, who set up the cafe, said the cafe welcomes everyone, especially for those who are new to the area, and anyone who would otherwise be on their own.

The cafe serves coffee, tea and delicious home-made cakes. There are magazines, a craft table, and also a free massage for relaxation.

There is information for carers too.

Two weeks ago, I met some friends at the cafe and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. About 40 people were there. Three things worth mentioning:

  • Linda Read, from the Red Cross, gave free neck, shoulder, and hand massage to whoever needs it.
  • A craft table of knitting and painting was very popular.
  • Janet Blann from Carers Together was there to give support for carers.
