Do you remember how you celebrated the London Olympics 2012? Freelance writer and editor Ann Morgan greeted the Olympics through reading — she read 196 books representing each country in one year.
Ann Morgan is coming to talk to the Chandler’s Ford community about her wonderful journey through books at The Hilt (Hiltingbury Community Centre) on Friday 7th February 2014 at 7:30pm.
Ann Morgan recorded her journey in her blog on WordPress: What I did: A year of reading the world. She read all the globe’s 196 independent countries – plus one extra territory chosen by her blog visitors – sampling one book from every nation.
I had read Ann’s blog well before I knew that she is coming to talk in Chandler’s Ford. Her blog was a huge success and her book Reading the World: Postcards from my Bookshelf will be published by Harvill Secker in 2015.
Last April, celebrating World Book Day, Ann Morgan wrote an article on the Guardian about her mission to read a book from every UN-recognised country.
Before becoming a writer, Ann Morgan was Campaigns Officer for architectural history charity the Victorian Society. Apart from writing, she is also a talented singer as a mezzo soprano, and she often performs with London’s top professional choirs. You’ll find out more about Ann Morgan’s life as a writer, editor and singer on her website.
