Yorkshire born n bred, you can tek lad outta Yorkshire but ya can’t tek Yorkshire outta lad!!!
That’s me, now living south of Watford, who would have believed it! Well, it’s down to my wife as to why we are here in Chandler’s Ford, approx 4 years ago we moved here with her job as a Care home manager in Winchester.
We have both moved around the country with work and I have mainly worked in property maintenance plus a number of years as a Locksmith.
But ever since my grandfather showed me at an early age the things you could make with a bit of timber, glue and the odd nails, and since then I have been hooked on working with wood.
There is nothing better than working with your hands creating an object, that you are proud of, and if others like it, better still, but just enjoy the moment!
And now I have started a small business called The Woodcutters Hut (me and myself) making items and gifts for the home, mainly from recycled wood. I love using recycled or upcycled whichever term you prefer, as it is good for the planet plus you can get some great finishes using the natural floors and grains of the timber used.
I make many items ideal for gifts for all ages plus I can personalise quite a few of them so an ideal way of celebrating an event or date.
So we have settled here, and a beautiful area it is, but of course it’s not quite the same as God’s back garden!!
And on thee way out, Put t’wood in t’ole.

Tha’s not t’only one tha knows. We cum down ‘ere to keep ’em afloat. My wife says I came down south to marry a girl from the New Forest to better myself.
I have already done some translation for you about wood and holes!

I soon need an editor to edit exotic tongues of regional varieties! Our differences in languages reflect Chandler’s Ford well. Chandler’s Ford is a community with people from all over the world, and many people still feel like an ‘outsider’. I met someone last week and she told me she was new to Chandler’s Ford.
“How long?” I asked.
She said, ’20 years.’
