Writers at Hiltingbury Extravaganza 2017

September 14, 2017 By Allison Symes 4 Comments

Meet the Authors at Hiltingbury Extravaganza

Don’t forget the Hiltingbury Extravaganza is this Sunday, 17th September from 12 noon to 5 pm. Let’s hope for good weather and that all who go along to the Recreation Ground for this lively event have a wonderful time!

Chandler’s Ford Authors will be manning one of the stalls there and we would be delighted to see you. Barbara Sedgwick, Karen Stephens, Catherine Griffin, Maggie Farran and I will be “on duty” throughout the afternoon and we would love to chat with anyone interested in books, creative writing, self publishing or publishing via a small independent press like my own publisher, Chapeltown Books.

One of the best ways of explaining flash fiction is to read an example of it!
Allison Symes will also be pleased to meet you at the writers’ stand on Sunday.

As well as offering our books for sale,  we can give more information about writing groups (for example, the Hampshire Writers’ Society and Barbara Large’s classes which are held regularly in The Dovetail Centre).

So come and say hello! (And you may find some early Christmas presents, and some special offers, amongst our wares on the stall too).

For those of you taking part in the Children’s Poetry Competition, don’t forget you can drop your entries off to us on the day as well.

About Allison Symes

I'm a published flash fiction and short story writer, as well as a blogger. My fiction work has appeared in anthologies from Cafelit and Bridge House Publishing.

My first flash fiction collection, From Light to Dark and Back Again, was published by Chapeltown Books in 2017.

My follow-up, Tripping the Flash Fantastic, was published by Chapeltown Books in 2020.

I adore the works of many authors but my favourites are Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse and Terry Pratchett.

I like to describe my fiction as fairytales with bite.

Should be a good day. Sunny morning with some cloud in the mid afternoon then bright again. No rain forecast.

A chance to meet some interesting people and you can get decent sandwiches and other food.
