Just to let people know that the Twyford Waterworks Trust is having one of their interesting Open Days on Sunday, 4th June.
Information taken from their website:
Sunday 4th June 2017
Today we will be focusing on our industrial railway.
Ex-industrial petrol, diesel and battery electric locomotives will be running on both our short lines – at least two locos on the quarry line and three locos on the kiln line above the site. Other locos will be on display.
See how materials used to be moved by narrow gauge railways!
Please note: we do not give rides on any of our railways.
Other attractions are Guided Tours and working water-based exhibits. The site is like a small nature reserve, full of wildlife and masses of plants – great for a wander round. Ice creams and burgers, cake and sandwiches are all on sale and it’s a great day out for all the family.
My blog, Nicola Slade’s Winchester Histories & Mysteries, has a new post about the much grander pumping stations still in existence around the UK.
