Peter Green

May 11, 2014 By Janet Williams 6 Comments

Mr Peter Green would have turned 99 on the 8th of May 2014.

I’m sure you know about Peter Green, our local high quality furniture store in Chandler’s Ford with a 58-year history.

Well, last night I watched Eurovision with my son. Do you know the first Eurovision Song Contest was held in 1956? Peter Green was established in Eastleigh in that year too.

Do you recognise this building? It was the old premises of Peter Green in Eastleigh. The building was an old factory on the corner of Factory Road and Southampton Road in Eastleigh.

If you have a story about this building, please share it with Peter Green.

Buying local with Peter Green

Our family is perhaps the only family in Chandler’s Ford which doesn’t take a keen interest in DIY. We often shop locally as we love engaging with a real shop and real people.

When we first moved to our new house in Chandler’s Ford in 2001, we bought a few pieces of furniture from Peter Green. Our floorboard was also professionally fitted by Peter Green. We were happy customers.

There is a pleasant route to get to Peter Green on School Lane in Chandler’s Ford, from Sutherlands Way, off South Miller’s Dale. Cross the railway line near Kerry Close, walk through Valley Park, and turned left into Peter Green.

Wendy Martin, Executive Chairman of Peter Green, recently shared on Twitter that her father was a much-loved man, whose death in 1980 was mourned throughout the Eastleigh area.

We bought our carpets from Peter Green when we moved into the area – a lovely local store with excellent customer service!
