Students at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College are celebrating another outstanding set of exam results.
The 1,225 students who sat A Level exams at the college this summer have performed even better than their predecessors.

The pass rate at A Level was 98.4% with 76% of grades at A*- C. Half of the students who sat A Level exams at the college were awarded A* to B grades and 181 achieved at least two A*/A grades. The result has been an unprecedented number heading to university including 19 offers from Oxford and Cambridge.
335 students chose to take an Extended Project alongside their three or four A levels and 115 of them gained another A or A* grade in this. Admissions Tutors often say that the extended project is the very best preparation for studying at University.
Among the many individual success stories is Rachael Willson, formerly from Thornden School, who achieved A* in all of her subjects – Biology, English Literature, Geography and Psychology securing a place to study Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.

Dominic Dux, formerly from The Gregg School, also achieved a straight run of A* grades in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics which has earned him a place at the University of Warwick to study Mathematics.
Eleanor Deane, formerly from Thornden School, got A* in Chemistry, Maths, and Biology, and A* in EPQ (Extended project). She’s gained a place at Brighton and Sussex medical school.
Eleanor is over the moon with her results gaining full marks in several papers. She has been tutoring keystage 3 and A-level maths and is keen to take on tutoring (Maths chemistry and biology) when she is home for the holidays.

Vocational courses
The 456 students completing vocational courses this summer in Business, Sport, Media, IT, Health & Social Care and the Performing Arts achieved a 100% overall pass rate with an incredible 86.4% receiving distinction grades – equivalent to A* to B at A Level.
Celebrating success is Caitlan Davison, formerly from The Romsey School who achieved a Triple Distinction* in the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. Her results have confirmed her place at Southampton Solent University to study Sport Coaching and Development.

Principal, Jonathan Prest commented: “Congratulations to our hard working students who have achieved such spectacular results this year. The College is celebrating a vintage year!”
“Results Day not only provides us with an opportunity to applaud our amazing students but also their teachers, families and friends who have offered their support, encouragement and advice. It is the ultimate reward for staff at the college to watch students realise their dreams and move on to the next step of their lives.”
