Quirky Knitting Toys Made In Chandler’s Ford

December 20, 2013 By Janet Williams 6 Comments

I love a bit of surprise in life, especially on a windy Friday afternoon.

This afternoon, I went to the Barclays Bank in Eastleigh to deal with some boring business, but once entering the bank, I was greeted with a beautiful craft table filled with quirky and modern knitted dolls and toys.

Lesley, who ran the stall, told me that the bank was celebrating Christmas and she was invited to run a craft stall inside the bank. How wonderful!

I was mesmerised by the range of the toys that Lesley and her friends knitted. I like the Father Christmas and woman Santa with their trendy look.

The set of choir singing is also charming. The quirky Saints footballers are endearing, and the footballers (or fans of Saints) appear in all shapes and hair styles. Beautiful! If you are running out of Christmas ideas, these are wonderful gifts.

Lesley told me that she has just started this knitting business with the help from local knitters. Once a month, she would invite a group of knitters to her home in Chandler’s Ford, and they would have lunch, and enjoy knitting together and creating new designs.

Knitting has helped the knitters to form new friendship and they support each other through their shared hobby in knitting.

Why not buy from Lesley and her local knitters in Chandler’s Ford?

I still have the knitted rabbit that my grandmother made me when I was a small child (a long, long time ago). A couple of years ago I visited a National Trust property where they had an entire knitted tea-party. I’ll email you some photos.

Thank you. I also bought a few knitted toys (to be precise, dinosaurs!) this Christmas from some local old ladies. There is charm in hand-knitted toys. Everyone is unique, and you know who knits the toys. Look forward to your image.

Do people remember the tiny choristers and angels from Quirky and Quaint? Those are my designs and I’m happy to knit for folk xx
