I’m currently reading Barbara Hillier’s book, Chandler’s Ford, a Pictorial History (by Phillimore & Co. Ltd. 1994). One of the old pictures included in the book is this:
On Flickr, Ron Adams also shared this particular picture in dlanor smada’s photostream. He wrote that it was an unused card by Pook’s Sepia Series. He bought this card at a fair for his late father-in-law, who was born in Stoneham.
In Barbara’s Hillier’s book, the same image is shown as image 20. Barbara wrote: “The bay windows were added to the Halfway Inn in 1912, and when this photograph was taken in 1914, the house on the corner of Brownhill Road, now Brownhill Surgery, had been built.”
Ron Adams says
Thank you, Janet, for the acknowledgement.
