Delightful Family Fun Day In Eastleigh Town Centre

August 15, 2014 By Janet Williams 8 Comments

My son and I took the train to Eastleigh this afternoon. We were totally surprised by many farm animals welcoming us in the town centre.

It was actually Eastleigh Fun Day today, which I wasn’t aware of. What a wonderful surprise!

Emma Thompson from Emma’s Farm, of Swanmore, brought her donkey, pony, alpacas, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and parrot to Eastleigh Town Centre today.

Emma Thompson: loving educational visits

You should see the happy faces of the children. The kids really loved touching the animals.

Emma Thompson told me she takes her farm animals to visit schools, clubs, nursery, and also birthday parties.

She loves educational visits and she has run this family business for six years. She told me she uses her animals as ‘therapy’ too.

What does therapy with animals mean? I asked.

Emmma told me she also works with special needs pupils and sometimes visits nursing homes. The lovely farm animals help people open up and share their happy memories.

Eastleigh Fun Day Friday in Easleigh Town Centre

Thanks to Eastleigh Borough Council, there are two more Friday Fun Days in the next two weeks.

This is the third year Eastleigh Borough Council runs this popular event.

Today I saw many fun activities for children to do, including craft activity from messy church by Junction Church, free face painting, and climbing wall. There is also free bike health check with the Bike Doctor.

The next two Eastleigh Fun Day (Friday) 2014 will be:

  • 29th August 2014 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Eastleigh Town Centre, Leigh Road, Eastleigh.

Thanks to Eastleigh Borough Council for creating such a wonderful event during the summer holiday.

Thank you so much for the Eastleigh Fun Day Friday blog. I’m so glad you have enjoyed these events. We put these events on to attract families into the town centre with a low cost fun day. Lots of these activities are free, like the face painting, climbing wall, craft activities and the lovely animal farm. You can even bring your bike for a free service each week. There is one more Fun Day Friday this Friday 30 August between 11am and 3pm but we hope to return in 2015.

Thank you Theresa for organising the Family Fun Day in Eastleigh. Actually adults enjoy the fun day as much as children do. Offering free craft activities and having farm animals in the town centre are such good ideas. Well done and I hope there are more events like this in the future, or perhaps you could extend the events to other areas too?

I am trying to contact the face painter that was in the precinct doing the free face painting. I run the Hospice charity shop in Market street Eastleigh. We are holding a fun day on sat 18th October. I want someone to do the face painting for us. Could someone please contact me if they can help?
