Bradfest is an open air, live music festival. It will take place in the grounds of Woodlands Park, Otterbourne (SO21 2DZ) this coming weekend (Saturday, 6 July).
Guests will enjoy 7 hours of live music, including Charley Macaulay and her seven piece band, lead vocalist from Rufus Stone, Malc Eyers and The Strolling Stones.
I’ve just learnt about Bradfest on the website of Bay Leaves Larder, which supports The Bradley Watson Foundation this year.
Bradfest is run by The Bradley Watson Foundation (or Bradley’s Foundation), a Hampshire based charity that helps local children and young people with cancer and life shortening illnesses.
The charity was set up in memory of Bradley, who was tragically killed in a road accident in June 2000, just 4 days after his 9th birthday.
I’m always touched by kind people who raise money to care for young children with cancer. I have a personal story to share. In 2001, my baby boy was treated with a rare disease at the Piam Brown ward, regional Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Unit for Wessex, based in Southampton General Hospital.
My son received outstanding treatment in the hands of experts and dedicated staff, and has remained in their care for the past 10 years. I understand fully how much care and support the children with cancer need, and how much research is needed to tackle childhood cancer.
I therefore applaud Bradley’s Foundation for its dedication to help care for sick children and also support their families. I wish them all the best with Bradfest.
You can buy Bradfest tickets online on the foundation’s website.
