Ramona is from Bosnia. She has been selling The Big Issue magazine in Chandler’s Ford for about a year.
This afternoon I saw Ramona selling The Big Issue near Costa Coffee at the Fryern Arcade.
I had a chat with Ramona just a few yards away from Costa Coffee, the new arrival at the Fryern Arcade. Costa Coffee was opened this morning by the Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Malcolm Cross.
I bought a copy of The Big Issue from Ramona. It costs £2.50. A small Mocha Latte from Costa Coffee also costs £2.50.
The Big Issue offers homeless people the chance to earn their own money. The Big Issue Foundation also enables vendors like Ramona the opportunity to take control of their lives.
The Big Issue vendors buy the magazines at £1.25 and sell to customers at £2.50.
Ramona told me that she is living in Chandler’s Ford with her sister. She also told me she quite likes to get a job.
